Due to its status of National Park, Los Roques has to observe strict rules regarding building construction. Consequently there are no luxury hotels but a wide choice of posadas, all of them being rebuild of the fisherman’s houses.
Posada Guaripete is one of them and owned and managed by Egido and Tiziana since of a long time. It has 7 rooms (6 double and 1 triple/quadruple), all of them with private bathroom and air conditioning. The style of the posada is simple, but comfortable. The rooms are situated on the low ground while the first floor is a covered terrace suitable for relaxing, reading or having a drink. The staff of the posada is made up of persons who work with the owners since many years. They all speak English, always caring to satisfy any of the guests requests.
Starting from 8.00 in the morning a breakfast made of coffee, tea, fresh natural fruit juices, home made bread, toast, butter and jam, cookies, eggs, bacon and so on… is waiting for you. During the breakfast the daily program is planned. Between 9.30 / 10.00 departure for a day trip to the islands.
The posada has at its a disposal a 32” open motor boat (with 2 o.b. engines 4T 115 Hp) to organize trips to all the islands of the archipelago (from 20 minutes to 1 hour navigation). On board of the boat the captain and the seaman, both of them islander and experts of the archipelago. Once arrived at destination, the seaman provides to arrange the beach umbrellas, the beach chairs and the icepacks with packed lunch. The packed lunch is different every day and varies from cold pasta, salad Caprese, rice salad to sandwiches etc. , fresh fruit, cookies, fresh water and coca cola. Every afternoon at the return from the sea, an afternoon snack is waiting for the guests: Pizza, white pizza bread, fresh juices, coffee etc. Dinner is served at 19.30. After dinner you may choose staying in the posada and enjoy talking to the other guests, maybe sipping a good rum, talking a walk under the star spread sky or taking a walk around the little handy craft gift shops on the island.
The cooking has a tipical Mediterranean imprint, due to the Italian origins of the owners, but offers mainly what the sea gives every day. Therefore the main dishes are based on fresh fish, pasta, rice, soups, potages, fruit and sweets. Any dietary allergy or food you do not appreciate will be handled by the cook. It is important to let us know in time about your eventual problems. Whether you stay there for one day only or have a longer stay, in season ( November to April) you should not miss to taste a lobster on Los Roques.
