Metrics details. The duration of symptoms preceding a definitive diagnosis of osteosarcoma is quite long. Pathological radiological signs are often evident by the time of diagnosis. Although several case reports have been published on osteosarcoma of the femur, to the best of our knowledge this report is the first one with such an unusual clinical course. We describe the case of a year-old Caucasian man who presented with a femoral shaft fracture. Two years post-trauma osteosarcoma in the ipsilateral distal femur was diagnosed.

A year-old male was involved in a high-speed motorcycle accident and sustained multiple open injuries. He was taken to a local hospital and radiographic examination revealed a right-sided open complex distal femur fracture with bone loss and ipsilateral open mid-shaft tibia and fibula fracture. The open wounds were irrigated and debrided on multiple occasions. The tibia fracture was treated with placement of an intramedullary nail and a spanning external fixator was placed for the distal femur fracture. The local medical team then contacted the office of David L.
Metrics details. For hospitalized older adults, the deconditioning effect of bedrest and functional decline has been identified as the most preventable cause of ambulation loss. We do not fully understand why there continues to be such high rates of sedentary times, given that evidence demonstrates functional decline is preventable and early mobility recommendations have been available for over a decade. A descriptive mixed method embedded case study was selected to understand the phenomenon of early mobility after fragility hip fracture surgery.
