Now that you are aware of all the necessay background information, it is time to do work with the Milan case study. To asses differences in the average air temperature within different LCZ, you will perform the following steps:. The LCZ raster map of Milan you will use in the exercise has been derived by and from a Sentinel-2 image acquired in summer The map includes the subset of LCZ characterizing the Milan area. Some of the contiguous classes have been aggregated as shown in the table below with the purpose of obtaining zones with marked differences in the urban land-use features thus easing their comparison in terms of air temperature.

In this lesson we will perform some hydrological analysis. This analysis will be used in some of the following lessons, as it constitutes a very good example of an analysis workflow, and we will use it to demonstrate some advanced features. In this lesson, we are going to do some hydrological analysis. Starting with a DEM, we are going to extract a channel network, delineate watersheds and calculate some statistics. The first module to execute is Catchment area. You can use anyone of the others named Catchment area. They have different algorithms underneath, but the results are basically the same.

Local Authorities work with people and assets. Most people have an address and assets are mostly located somewhere. For people who work in Local Authorities being able to find an accurate and up-to-date address easily is key to being able to deliver a service quickly and efficiently.
In a world of ever increasing cyber threats and complications, on occasion, the need arises to take digital mapping away from a cloud environment. The cloud environment is a great solution for solving large digital mapping problems. However, a simpler, local solution is now available for smaller sets of data. In this article I will lay out a method I developed to convert file geodatabase based data into open source data. This open source data can be placed in a location for syncing and viewing by many QGIS viewers.
